In light of the Ray Rice incident where many people were outraged that Ray Rice was not punished severely enough for his role in the battery of his now wife , and the NFL’s subsequent lax punishment. An announcement revealed by the NFL says that future acts of violence against women will not be tolerated by league officials.
In fact, the NFL will draft a new policy (not yet released) that will punish aggressors more severely. The outcry from fans and domestic violence advocates must have struck a cord as the NFL has a history of not punishing their players more severely.
The new policy came within days of former first round draft pick, Greg Oden’s domestic violence arrest where he punched his on and off again girlfriend in the face. Oden admitted to police officers that he indeed struck his girlfriend in the face.
Once there, he was processed and charged with felony Domestic Battery resulting in bodily injury.
